When does the new daily puzzle appear?
Every day at midnight (Central European Time). The clock in the top bar counts down — as a guest it shows how long today's puzzle is still playable.
What is the pixel lens?
Once per round you may bring a single spot of the pixelated screenshot into full focus. After PRESS START, the “Use pixel lens” button appears below the image — clicking it arms the lens, and your next click on the image sets the window. That is what makes a first-try win possible.
How often can I use the lens — and does it cost anything?
Exactly once per puzzle, and it is free. It grants no bonus either: your attempts, XP, and streak are unaffected. There is no undo, so choose the spot carefully. The daily puzzle, archive replays, and the guest demo each have their own lens.
Where should I aim the lens?
Games give themselves away through their interface, not their scenery. The best targets are the HUD corners, an ammo or health bar, the font, an item icon, or the mini-map. Click the middle of the sky and you get a very sharp sky — and nothing else.
Are there achievements for the lens?
Three: “First Look” for using it once, “Sharpshooter” for a first-try win with the lens (+150 XP), and “Naked Eye” for the same win without it (+200 XP). The last two are mutually exclusive — if you used the lens that day, no Naked Eye for you.
Can guests use the lens too?
Yes, it works the same in the demo puzzle without an account. There it is remembered in your browser session rather than your account — clear your session data and the lens is available again.
What do the year and the arrow behind my guess mean?
That is the year compass: behind every wrong guess sits its release year and the direction towards the game you are looking for. ↑ means newer, ↓ means older, = means the same year. So “✗ Portal 2007 ↓” tells you the answer came out before 2007. If the two are at most five years apart, the year turns yellow — like Wordle's yellow tile. The exact gap stays hidden.
Some guesses show no year — is that a bug?
No. For a small share of catalog entries our data source has no release year. In that case the compass stays quiet rather than guessing. We are filling in the missing years step by step.
What is the title pattern — and where did the platform hint go?
Since version 1.6.2 the fourth intel hint shows the title as a pattern: one block per letter, with digits and punctuation left visible. “Resident Evil 2” becomes “▮▮▮▮▮▮▮▮ ▮▮▮▮ 2” — you see the number of words and their lengths, but never a letter. It replaced the platform hint: “PC, PlayStation” applied to nearly every game and therefore ruled nothing out.
Why did I lose my streak?
Your streak breaks when a day passes without a daily win — either missed or lost. If you have a streak freeze in stock, it automatically bridges exactly one missed day. Your record stays in your statistics.
What is a streak freeze and how do I get one?
A freeze saves your streak when you miss a day. You automatically earn one on every 7th streak day (7, 14, 21, …). Your stock grows with your level: 2 slots, 3 from level 25, 4 from level 77 — shown as ❄️ next to your streak. If a streak of 7+ days still breaks, you can repair it once per month within 24 hours for XP.
Why is my streak flame a different color?
The flame reflects your streak length: orange at the start, blue from 30 days, violet from 100, and gold from 365 days. All tiers are shown in the help pages.
What does the Hypertrain do for me?
From Hypertrain level 3, every further daily win that day gets a +10 % XP hype bonus. If the train reaches level 5, the community chest opens: +50 XP delivered to the inbox of everyone who contributed points that day — plus the 🚇 HYPE CREW role on Discord for 24 hours. And riding along always counts: at day close, every player of that day earns +2 XP per train level, plus a ticket for your shop balance from level 3.
Can I catch up on missed puzzles?
Yes — the archive lets you play all past dailies. Archive wins grant XP and their own achievements, but do not count towards your streak or the daily leaderboard.
What are promo codes and where do I find them?
Short words like RAMEN that unlock a reward. We hide them in our posts on TikTok, Threads, Instagram, YouTube and Reddit, and on Discord — sometimes to launch something, sometimes just because.
How do I redeem a code?
Under Settings → Profile → Code. Type the code, hit “Redeem”, done. Upper and lower case do not matter, neither do stray spaces. Your past redemptions are listed at the bottom of the same page.
I redeemed a code but my tickets are missing — where are they?
In your inbox. Codes never credit anything directly; they send you a message with the reward to claim — exactly like gifts from the team. One click on “Claim” and the tickets are on your account. The bell at the top shows the new message right away.
Can I redeem the same code twice?
No, every code works once per account. Some codes also expire or are limited to a number of redemptions — first come, first served. A code that does not exist (any more) simply reports as unknown.
Are there XP codes?
No, and that is deliberate. Codes give tickets, streak freezes or cosmetics. XP would feed straight into the leaderboard — and that should be decided by playing, not by following our posts.
How is the daily leaderboard sorted?
By tries first: fewer guesses rank higher. Ties are broken by solve time — it runs from your click on PRESS START until the winning guess and sits above the puzzle image. The time of day you play does not matter.
I am not receiving my login code by email — what now?
Check your spam folder first. The code is only valid for a short time — just request a new one if in doubt. If nothing arrives, contact us at the email address in the legal notice.
How do I change my email address?
In Settings under Profile → Account. We send a six-digit code to the NEW address; it only takes effect once you enter that code. Until then you keep signing in with the old one, so a typo cannot lock you out. For safety we notify the old address about the change afterwards.
Can I change my username?
Yes, in Settings under Profile. Your first change is free, every further one costs 10 tickets. On your very first sign-in you pick the name freely anyway — including when you sign in with Discord; your Discord name is not carried over.
Discord sign-in says my email is not verified — why?
We only create an account when Discord has verified your address. Without it you could not sign in later, because signing in works through a code sent by email. Verify the address in your Discord settings — or sign in here with an email code instead.
Does my shared result spoil the answer?
No. The text grid only shows your attempts as colors, and the image card that `/share` renders on Discord shows the screenshot heavily pixelated with “???” instead of the title — friends can still guess for themselves.
What happens when someone opens my shared link?
The link carries your attempt count. If that person plays the same daily, they will see a duel comparison afterwards: their result versus yours.
Why can I not see some achievements?
Secret achievements are only revealed once unlocked, and some only appear after you have played at least 3 games. Also, only a few achievements unlock per game — the rest follow with your next wins.
Does guest mode count for streak and XP?
No. Nothing is saved in guest mode, and you play a sample puzzle from a separate practice pool there — not today's daily. Create a free account (email only, no password needed) to play the real daily with streak, XP, achievements, and the leaderboard.
How do I link my account with Discord?
Type /link on Discord and enter the code on n00b.gg in Settings — or sign in with Discord directly. Unlink anytime with /unlink or in Settings.
Which roles does the Discord bot assign?
The bot syncs roles automatically from real game data: VETERAN (long streaks), N00B GOD (top level), ON FIRE (hot streaks), Weekly Champion — and the 🚇 HYPE CREW for 24 hours after a level-5 Hypertrain. A linked account (/link) is required.
How does the tip game on Discord work?
The daily post has a button where you guess how many players will solve today's puzzle. It resolves at the evening recap — the closest tip earns +30 XP on the linked account.
How do I turn email reminders on or off?
In Settings under Profile → Connections. The daily reminder arrives at 9 am your local time; from a 3-day streak, an evening email additionally warns you before your streak breaks.
How do I delete my account?
In Settings under account. Deletion permanently removes your profile and game history.
How do I report a disruptive profile?
Open the player's profile page and click "Report". Pick a category (e.g. offensive name, spam) and optionally add a comment — moderation reviews every report.
Why is a player suddenly called n00b#123?
Moderation flagged that username as inappropriate. The name stays publicly masked until the player picks a new one — they are prompted automatically on their next visit.
What happens if cheating is suspected?
Moderation reviews suspicious results and may revoke a daily result. The day then counts as lost, your streak breaks, and the day cannot be replayed. See "Fair play & moderation" in the help pages.
My daily result was revoked — what can I do?
If you believe it was a mistake, send a support ticket (Settings → Support) with the category "Revoked daily result" and select the affected day. Moderation can fully restore the day.
No question matches that.
